Leigh is a life long dog lover who has been running her own successful home dog boarding & day care business for over 5 years now. She has experience of many different breeds and temperaments, as well as caring for elderly and special needs dogs. Leigh wants to go from a small home business to helping out the many people who have said that there are not enough doggy day care facilities in the area. Her ambition is to allow people to entrust us with their 'fur baby' enabling them to go about their daily business with the knowledge that their dog is being cared for in a safe, fun and loving environment. Leigh is currently studying the competency course for kennels, dog day care and home boarders with the Pet Industry Federation.

Grant has recently given up his full time job to help Leigh make The Playbark a reality. He has spent the last few months levelling, seeding, fencing and grass cutting to ensure that we have a secure, safe and welcoming doggy day care environment for dogs to come to. Grant has been a lifelong dog lover and owner. As well as holding down a full time job, he has been chief dog walker for Barking Boarding for the past 5 years. Grant also has lots of experience in dealing with many different doggy characters.

Ed has spent the last few months ensuring that The Playbark doggy day care has been coming along to his satisfaction and the last few weeks showing it off to his canine chums. He, along with his fur buddies are ensuring that it is being tested out to the fullest. So far, it has been waggy tails all round.
Leigh set up a home dog boarding business over 5 years ago after the loss of our much loved family dog, Archie. We wanted to create an environment at home where our doggy guests would be loved and treated as if they were our own, while always being aware of making it as affordable a service that we could provide. Being dog owners ourselves and parents to our three girls, we are well aware of the additional costs that our pets can bring when it comes to someone else caring for them. Two years ago we added doggy day care to our already succesful home boarding business. This has taken off and has meant we have out grown our family home and garden! This is why "The Playbark" was conceived. We secured land 12 miles from our house and are ready to grow our new family business bringing the same values of Barking Boarding to our new business.
We know that due to today's modern busy lifestyle it can be difficult to fit in everything that your dog may need. Our work and social pressures can make it difficult to exercise, socialise and make sure that our dogs are receiving the enrichment and mental stimulation that they need to thrive. Most dogs do not like to be left for long periods of time with no social contact. This can lead to your dog becoming depressed or mischevious and ultimately destructive. We will care for all dogs in our supervision as if they are our own and make sure that they receive the necessary exercise and enrichment that they require. Our aim will be to return a clean, mentally and physically satisfied dog to you so that you can enjoy your evening together. We plan to provide a stress free, safe, fun and stimulating environment for your best friend.
We take the responsibilty of your dog's care very seriously and will always ask to have a meeting before accepting any dog to join in at The Playbark. Not all breeds and individual dogs would do well in the environment due to their nature and we will always take this into account before a dog is accepted into our pack.
The Playbark is a member of The Pet Industry Federation ensuring that we comply with their standards and also enabling us to maintain current with best practice in our industry.
Grant and Leigh are trained in dog first aid, canine behaviour and handling. We have certificate of disclosure and the business is fully insured.
